Members of the Friends attending the annual meeting on June 7th were treated to a lecture by award-winning author, Dr. Doug Tallamy, of the University of Delaware. Dr. Tallamy, recently featured in the July Issue of Southern Living magazine, discussed the value of introducing some of the native plants and landscape features of John Dickinson’s era to the Plantation, as well as to our own yards and gardens. A visual bonus was the extraordinary museum-quality collection of Dr. Tallamy’s photographs, with which he illustrated his presentation. Most members chose to travel afterward to Sambo’s restaurant in Leipsic where they enjoyed an exuberant evening of dinner and each other’s company.
